At La Plata Electric, I see every day how urgently we need a workforce that understands both the science and the economics of our changing energy landscape. The Seal of Climate Literacy gives students that foundation by connecting classroom learning to real career opportunities. Colorado led the way, and I’m proud to see states across the country following.

The most influential experience while earning the Seal was getting solar panels for my high school. Through this work, I gained firsthand insight into public policy, renewable energy implementation, and the collaboration required to create meaningful change. It taught me how to work with diverse stakeholders and take initiative in driving environmental action

Students in our small rural mountain community often experience the impacts of climate change more directly since many of their livelihoods depend on the wild spaces that surround them. The Seal offers students the opportunity to do something that matters to them personally and be recognized for their efforts to create change.
