The Seal of Climate Literacy is built on a shared national vision – and is designed to work locally. Students demonstrate mastery across three core competencies:

Students declare their intent to pursue the Seal, in cases where state policy has been codified and the student’s Local Education Agency is conferring it.
Students complete required interdisciplinary coursework.
Students design and carry out a community-based climate project.
Schools or districts lead the review of student applications or portfolios.
The Seal is awarded upon meeting requirements, typically at graduation.
